Subject: I don't have much of a read on the reasons/ramifications for the Packer/Carraway

Message:

switch, either for this year or for next. For this year, I could see
making the move because (a) GT has lefty sticks and (b) good to get
Packer a start should he be needed as the fourth starter in the
postseason (though that would eliminate him from the bullpen where
he's needed). I'd been assuming that Packer was more likely to close
next year (than Davis, who I think will start, or anybody else); we'd
need several of the frosh (current or incoming) to step up big time in
the 'pen to feel comfortable starting all three of Carraway, Packer
and Davis next year. One of them probably stays in the 'pen to close,
and I like your idea of Carraway there; that just means the step ups
have to come from starters like Cowan.

Current Thread:

By the way..Carroway looked fantastic last night in relief  --  88222732255   Fri May 16 2008 12:44:21 PM

Agree with all that - Packer can certainly close as well.  --  88222732255   Fri May 16 2008 2:21:53 PM
Silverstein and Hultzen (at least) will be in the mix as well **  --  SWVAHoo   Fri May 16 2008 3:01:45 PM
