for drugs, MJ as I recall. Our friends were conservative and very
religious, and their kids were regularly in church with their parents.
The kid was a nice young person, not a great student, but he made
the wrong choice.

The father was a bit overboard with his religion, IMO, and kept a big
wooden paddle on a nail by the front door with some bible verse
admonishing the parents to lay the wood to the kids lest they stray
too far. Parents divorced and the wife married then married a very
nice man the second time around.
