I did a look up on Google maps to see exactly where that location is.
It's within spitting distance of the University Diner (I think that
was the name) that Herb Shifflet ran for years. That dinner was made
up of two old rail cars placed side by side, near the corner of W.
Main and 14th St.
One night late in the late 1950's or early 60's, the husband of one of
the waitresses came through the kitchen and into the grill/counter
area where he killed his wife with a shot gun blast. I was not there,
but the story was they never stopped serving. (The Diner was open
24x7x365 back then.)
