Subject: Just got a ticket in FL -- how do I know if points will be assessed?

Message:

I got a ticket for "following too closely" -- copper said I was "3 car lengths away at
65mph"

I thought I was at a fairly reasonable distance, but whatever...

In any case he gave me a pamphlet with my 3 options: 1) send in the money and
accept "any applicable" points (it was a generic pamphlet for all moving violations)
2) take a driving course and pay the fine but don't get points or 3) plead not guilty
and get a court date

I'd prefer to just pay the ticket if it's going to be 0 points, but I'm only 23 (my license
is in VA) and I'd prefer my insurance to go up as little as possible... The ticket
doesn't say if the particular violation has any points and all I have to go by is the
pamphlet which leads me to believe some violations have points and others don't.
This will be my first moving violation on my driving record FWIW...
