Subject: The parallel is not exact...

Message:

but I would point to the 1976 ncaas in Charlottesville, big red over blue
jays, as being a big accellerater for local lacrosse in our area.

The parallel is off because UVA had a lax program since the 50's and
won the national championship just five years prior. And W&L just
down the road was a national power.

But, I dont think there was any local lacrosse at the highschool level
prior to then, but there was after.

And no doubt thats more because that '71 championship team -- like
tarring, duquette, ruleman -- all went on build up high school lacrosse in
Virginia, instead of heading off somewhere else. These guys were the
johnny appleseeds of virginia lacrosse.

But, personnally, being at that 76 championship game at scotts
stadium got me and all my buddies hooked on lacrosse as six year
olds. Same will be for a bunch of shaggy headed Texas urchins.
