who spend 7 days competing to earn one medal (like decathalon) and
you have athletes who spend 10 days competing for 7 medals like swimmers, track athletes, gymnists.... While Medal counts are important, it brings up the issue of how does one compare who is the greatest.......I truly find it hard to compare athletes from different sports/events. In theory you could have a rifle guy compete in 10 olympics over his life time....you couldnt do that in swimming or track!! I think that is why they use the term "most decorated" - its a very good comprimise |
