I can't help but comment that PMB was totally snubbed in the Women's COY
category. Does coaching an NCAA Champion trump all else? Wasn't this the year that UNC's women were the clear-cut favorites to win ACCs? Even with the loss of Brodie and Smith, they were still the team to beat on paper. UVa's Women had an excellent year, and their finish at NCAA's was significantly affected by Lauren Perdue's injury. Nonetheless, they won ACC's handily, the 1st Years performed as well as any class ever has, and they had the most points of any ACC school at NCAA's. I'm sure Dino is not fretting over this, but.... Since 1990, only 3 times on the Women's side and 4 times on the Men's side has a coach other than the ACC Champion's Coach received the honor. I don't begrudge the Men's Award -- VT had an exceptional year and Dr. Ned is making VT a real contender. |
