in the 4x200 AND the 400 free. Very, very tough competition (this being
the United States after all), but the guy is a total beast and is in a fantastic training environment. He went 1:48 recently completely broken down. He's going to blow up at Trials. Robison will have a tougher time being top-6 in the 100 or 200, but you never know. I think he was closer to maxing out his potential in college than was McLean. But again, we won't know for a few months. And I don't know if Matt was particularly close with Fran or not, but to Virginia swimmers, especially male distance swimmers, Fran was larger than life and a hero in every sense of the word. Even if they'd only met him once, he was an inspiration (both before and after his tragic death). |
