off shore drilling was approved. Obama ended that. It is the policy to
reduce supply and make US dependent on foreign oil and foreign
makers of wind mills and solar cells.

Current Thread:

Will rising gas prices doom Obama?  --  SoCalWahoo   Sun Feb 19 2012 6:42:53 PM
I don't understand why you think demand for oil and gas is low.   --  KaHOOnah   Mon Feb 20 2012 9:18:52 AM
So we could drive $40K Volts that switch to gas after 27 miles? After 12 hours  --  Hoodafan   Mon Feb 20 2012 10:29:04 AM
Again, putting words in my mouth. There's no utility in responding to you.   --  KaHOOnah   Mon Feb 20 2012 11:23:20 AM
Did you not suggest "investing heavily on alternative energy"?   --  Hoodafan   Mon Feb 20 2012 11:42:39 AM
I did. And you took that to mean, "everyone driving Volts."   --  KaHOOnah   Mon Feb 20 2012 11:47:07 AM
So you meant Volts powered at our solar/wind homes?  --  Hoodafan   Mon Feb 20 2012 12:04:20 PM
Why you don't think wind and solar can be primary source of energy? **  --  JohnHoo?   Mon Feb 20 2012 11:03:55 AM
The technology isn't there yet. There is no bigger supporter of green energy   --  Galileo24   Mon Feb 20 2012 11:39:49 AM
Well said by someone that knows more than I. Transportation is being worked on  --  Hoodafan   Mon Feb 20 2012 11:56:11 AM
All of what you say is true, but we have to take into account improvements  --  Galileo24   Mon Feb 20 2012 12:49:14 PM
As a dude with a limited physics background, fuel cells are really, really   --  KaHOOnah   Mon Feb 20 2012 1:14:41 PM
When I say "biofuels" I am primarily talking about algae.  --  Galileo24   Mon Feb 20 2012 1:47:50 PM
So, no switchgrass, etc that would occupy land that would otherwise raise crops? **  --  KaHOOnah   Mon Feb 20 2012 1:51:41 PM
I'm not a big fan of switchgrass because it is about 20 times  --  Galileo24   Mon Feb 20 2012 1:58:38 PM
Interesting. I'll read up on it. Much obliged **  --  KaHOOnah   Mon Feb 20 2012 2:12:13 PM
Because I think its prospects are limited. Not saying to ignore   --  Hoodafan   Mon Feb 20 2012 11:39:20 AM
The well off need that $10,000 tax rebate. Poor do not. **  --  EmmanuelGoldstein   Mon Feb 20 2012 10:59:02 AM

Romney, but I like Mittens better. **  --  NaturalMysticHoo   Mon Feb 20 2012 11:12:32 AM
Its the silver lining in rising pump prices -- just maybe it'll be his downfall  --  Mr Wahoo   Sun Feb 19 2012 10:19:02 PM
When they go back to $3 by election day it will benefit him!  --  hatetheturtle   Sun Feb 19 2012 8:41:15 PM

Gas prices are under Bush levels. We remember.  --  Shenhoo   Sun Feb 19 2012 8:45:04 PM
               In 2008, gas was under $1.90/gallon. **  --  LTHoo   Sun Feb 19 2012 8:49:53 PM
                  And in 2000 or 2001 it was 99 cents. Bush's fault it tripled under him? **  --  81_Hokie   Mon Feb 20 2012 7:10:43 AM
In 2001, the national average price of a gallon of regular gasoline was $1.46. **  --  LTHoo   Mon Feb 20 2012 1:38:37 PM

LOL! Correlation w/o causality. Gas prices plunged during the world economic   --  Seattle 'Hoo   Sun Feb 19 2012 8:19:12 PM
And the growth in demand in China, India and other emerging high growth nations  --  NJHoo   Sun Feb 19 2012 8:42:08 PM
We use less gas now than in late 2008, but prices are higher. Why? **  --  EmmanuelGoldstein   Sun Feb 19 2012 8:27:11 PM
We also produce more gas now than we did in 2008. Perhaps you  --  Galileo24   Sun Feb 19 2012 8:48:53 PM
We also export more gas now and make a profit doing so. **  --  EmmanuelGoldstein   Sun Feb 19 2012 11:21:07 PM
That's right. Very good!!! Which is why drilling here, drilling now, doesn't   --  Galileo24   Mon Feb 20 2012 12:36:39 AM
Are you against oil security and good jobs for Americans? Demand Supply Curve   --  EmmanuelGoldstein   Mon Feb 20 2012 10:57:32 AM
No silly. You are assuming it is a competitive market on the supply side.   --  Galileo24   Mon Feb 20 2012 11:49:45 AM
Do you think that prices are determined just by demand in the US? C'mon EG.  --  Seattle 'Hoo   Sun Feb 19 2012 8:41:20 PM
Exactly why Obama's policy to restrict supply harms economy **  --  EmmanuelGoldstein   Sun Feb 19 2012 11:34:06 PM
It looks like the administration is about to approve Shell's drilling plan.  --  Seattle 'Hoo   Mon Feb 20 2012 12:48:07 AM

He has not curtaile production at all. More oil should  --  Shenhoo   Mon Feb 20 2012 9:23:50 AM
What is so frustrating about the whole Iran thing is the fact that SA has said   --  SoCalWahoo   Sun Feb 19 2012 7:05:55 PM
I don't disagree. Even domestic production of oil goes into the market where   --  Seattle 'Hoo   Sun Feb 19 2012 7:11:47 PM
Iran attempting to shut down the Strait would be a hugh mistake for them.  --  SoCalWahoo   Sun Feb 19 2012 7:17:52 PM
I know; they'd shut down their own exports and not for very long before they got  --  Seattle 'Hoo   Sun Feb 19 2012 8:22:48 PM
We do not export much oil, only refined products from imported oil **  --  EmmanuelGoldstein   Sun Feb 19 2012 7:20:04 PM
Preventing drilling in AK, shutting down exploration in Gulf & Keystone Pipeline  --  EmmanuelGoldstein   Sun Feb 19 2012 7:05:08 PM
Well that makes too much sense. **  --  SoCalWahoo   Sun Feb 19 2012 7:06:34 PM
Except that it is a canard and a paper tiger. We do drill in Alaska, we do   --  Seattle 'Hoo   Sun Feb 19 2012 7:15:43 PM
Expansion of AK drilling has been stopped several times. It would drop prices in  --  EmmanuelGoldstein   Sun Feb 19 2012 7:18:14 PM

So you do not care about future gas prices? Oil prices went down in 2008 when   --  EmmanuelGoldstein   Sun Feb 19 2012 7:56:06 PM
When the economy was tanking. **  --  DanTheFan   Sun Feb 19 2012 9:25:41 PM
You do not care about jobs for Americans or poor people paying more for gas. **  --  EmmanuelGoldstein   Sun Feb 19 2012 11:52:28 PM
When W opened up off shore drilling. Policy was reversed. **  --  EmmanuelGoldstein   Sun Feb 19 2012 11:40:26 PM
We can only hope. **  --  WahooKnows   Sun Feb 19 2012 6:45:49 PM
