Subject: There isn't much a Pres can do immediately about a spike in fuel prices
Posted by: Worlord on Thu Feb 23 2012 10:22:16 AM
Message:

outside of a quick Bush plea to the Saudi's for more production.

The debate (typical hyperbole aside) should be about his 3 years in
office and how has he or hasn't implemented a means of shielding
citizens from these spikes (even if the spikes are speculation driven or
somewhat artificial). This concern is perfectly legitimate and there is
little that affects the lives of the Poor and Middle Class more
economically than fuel prices.

If you claim to be the one who cares about the poor while implying
others don't, you can't turn around and tell the poor to buy the Chevy
Volt and not worry about food prices, if your energy policy is focused on
alternatives fine but you better have a plan that works soon or some
serious light at the end of the tunnel.
