I asked the question before this tournament about why US Soccer hired
a US born coach when there really are not any world class US born coaches. To answer my own question, one of the major factors had to be the success of Arena and the confidence in Bradley to continue the trajectory of the team in the direction that BA got it going. Can't really complain about that since even if Bradley is not "world class", I do think that he has kept us going in the right direction. Other possible reasons are pride and a lack of willing candidates to take the job. My point is that I agree with your assessment of Bradley. Great points also comparing this team to the 02 team. US Soccer is light years ahead of where it was in 2002. The pool of players is MUCH stronger and deeper, there has been relative success at the youth national team levels since then, play in MLS is getting stronger, etc., etc |
