My son made the state ODP pool when he was 14; all of the team
practices were scheduled for NOVA by the NOVA coach. because he was
unable to attend all of them he didn't make the "travel squad". NOVA
kids did.
It was two or three more years before he decided to try ODP again. By
this time we were living in Richmond. he made the district pool
easily, but a couple of months later he got a letter form the coach
telling him he had been cut because he didn't attend practices. Turned
out that the team manager, who's son was also a striker in the
district pool, never bothered to call us to tell us when practices
were being held.
That team manager later was convicted of embezzling almost 100 grand
from local soccer clubs. I hope she made some close friends in prison.
