Subject: I'm sure Bradley told them to come out more defensively.

However I also pin what you're talking about (pounding the ball upfield,
bad giveaways in our half of the field, etc) on our players cracking
somewhat under the constant Brazilian pressure (buoyed by their
immediate score - had we held them another 10-15 mins I think we might
have seen them get frustrated like Spain did) and making poor decisions
with the ball.

Look, I'm not saying that Bradley is a great coach. I agree he waited too
long to sub out Feilhaber and Altidore and that his refusal to play Adu or
Torres is frustrating from a FAN'S perspective. I just think that we need
to remember what we are working with here - generally, players a cut
worse than the teams that we have been playing against. Also we need
to remember that this tourney run was done without several would-be
starters: 'Dolo, Edu, Ching all out. If we have those guys back there are
suddenly a lot more substitution options, and we don't see Bornstein,
Kljestan, or Casey entering the game.

I am just apparently more inclined to cut Bradley a break at this point
than most people, since one week ago all we heard was "We'll never be
able to compete in major tournaments when Bradley's in charge. All
we're designed to do is run CONCACAF and we can't even do that.
Bradley sucks." Now a week later after we beat Egypt, Spain, and have
a heartbreaker against Brazil in a major tournament it's turned into
"Bradley is holding our most talented players on the bench and his
tactics are terrible. HE prevented us from beating Brazil in a tournament
final. Bradley sucks." Tough crowd. I guess some people won't be
satisfied until we're consistently beating the world's elite every time we
play them, even though our players are individually miles behind the
entire roster of a lot of countries.
