world's best teams.
He was unimpressive yesterday. He found himself alone once with the GK, albeit at a very sharp angle, & made a complete hash of it. He decided not to shoot & hesitated long enough before doing anything, thereby enabling Bayern to reset their D. He eventually tried to lob a pass to someone back in the middle, but it was a weak effort. By the way, Kaka managed to get ejected from a game in the 2010 WC & I felt that it was the most comical moment in the tournament. Brazil was beating Ivory Coast soundly in the 3rd & final game of the 1st round & was headed to the 2nd round. But that was not enough for Kaka. He tried to draw a 2nd yellow card against an Ivorian player well into the 2nd half. (I can't remember which Ivorian player, but it was not Drogba, Kalou, Gervinho, or 1 of their best known players.) Anyway, Kaka feigned injury or dove. Minutes later, the Ivorian player got his revenge & Kaka received his just desserts. The Ivorian player ran towards Kaka (face-to-face), got very close to Kaka, & then went down, acting as if Kaka had hit him in the face. Sure enough, Kaka drew a yellow card, which was his 2nd of the match & was shown a red. (I can't remember whether the foul was cancelled on review after the match or whether he had to miss the first game of the 2nd round.) In any event, talk about poetic justice. Many, including some posters on this board, decried the fact that the Ivorian had faked an injury & that this was a horrible thing & bad for football. But they missed the real point, IMO; Kaka had brought this on himself by trying to cheat earlier. His attempt was all the more stupid because the match was essentially over & Brazil had nothing to gain from the expulsion of an Ivorian player at that point. He was essentially cheating for the pleasure of cheating. I LOVED it when the Ivorian gave Kaka a dose of his own medicine. And I have never cared a lick for Kaka since then. |
