offsides traps and failing. If this were the case, you'd have to believe that
all of the best teams in the world are giving up excessive numbers of goals because they're too unwise to voluntarily keep some defenders further back. . or else, they're acknowledging that they're giving up extra goals on defense but believe they are more than making up for that by scoring even more goals on offense as a result of supporting their offense better withthe defenders pulled up so far. . In any event, I don't think they're acting illogically - they know that using the offsides rule to prevent opponents from advancing towards their goal reduces the number of goals they give up (or else they wouldn't do it). |
