If I recall correctly, Akron had one or two more shots, and one or two
more corners. It was generally an even game stat wise. We had the best keeper in the nation that year in Restrepo. We had better midfielders and controlled possession. We also hit post on a header early? They had one or two great players, but their skill dropped off more significantly after that. I thought we got the better of the play in that game, and they only challenged late, and in OT. Akron did not "deserve to win that game" by any stretch. If anything, they're lucky we went to PKs, as I thought we should have won in regular time. I understand your agenda. It's your prerogative to want GG gone and to try someone different, and it's a legitimate opinion. But trashing the accomplishments of the program in a misguided attempt to make that point, detracts from credibility. |
