was a fantastic college player and he beat SD once in SD's junior year.
I only saw him play twice, but he was a stud in college and IMO
had "bigger" shots than SD has.
Another guy. who I thought could become a top 100 player (whose
name slips my mind, but he was the French guy that played #1 for
Duke a couple of years ago) has not been in the news lately. I thought
he also had all the shots and very big serve.
After watching parts of 4 men's 1st round matches at the US Open on
Monday, it was clear that all of these were much better than all but the
elite college players. The elite college players are going to find it tough
to get a ranking that gets you into the ATP events.
Some elite college guys like Isner and SD were not close to being
ready to turn pro at age 17/18, so college tennis does give guys a
chance to make it if they can develop their games.
