The Wahoo Tennis Update keeps you up-to-date on recent news about
Men's and Women's Tennis at UVa, periodic updates on UVa Tennis Alums
in the pros, and a heads-up on what's next. The Update is free. If you
have friends or family you'd like us to add to the mailing list, just

AT A GLANCE -- HOOS & FORMER HOOS IN VNB MEN’S PRO CHALLENGER

MONDAY’S HOOS RESULTS
Singles qualifying final round: Sanam Singh defeated Kaden Hensel
Singles main draw: Dom Inglot defeated Ilija Bozoljac 4-6 6-2 6-1
Treat Huey lost 7-6 6-4 to Filip Prpic

TUESDAY’S HOOS MATCHES
Singles main draw: Singh vs. Grega Zemlja, not before 4 p.m.
Somdev Devvarman (No. 3 seed) vs.

Doubles main draw: Huey/Mankad (No. 1 seed) vs. Parr/ Paul, not before

Recent Results . . . The Virginia Men marched en masse this week into
the Virginia National Bank Men's Pro Championship, an ATP Challenger
Pro Tour event, at the Boyd Tinsley courts at the Boar’s Head Sports
Club. A total ofsixteen current and former Hoos are participating in
the tourney. Qualifying rounds on Saturday and Sunday saw action by
former Hoos Treat Huey, Dominic Inglot and Rylan Rizza, as well as
current Cavs Houston Barrick, Drew Courtney, Dino Dell'Orto, Steven
Eelkman-Rooda, Jarmere Jenkins, Milo Johnson, Philippe Oudshoorn,
Michael Shabaz, Lee Singer, Sanam Singh and Santiago Villegas. Huey,
Inglot and Singh advanced to the main draw. In doubles qualifying
rounds, Former Hoo Teddy Angelinos teamed with Oudshoorn, and Courtney
teamed with and Singer, but neither team advanced. On Monday, Inglot
won his first-round main draw match, but Huey was defeated.

What’s Next . . . The main singles draw, which began Monday, will see
action on Tuesday from former Cavalier standoutSomdev Devvarman, in
addition to Inglot and Singh. Later in the week, Devvarman (with
partner Bogomolov) and Inglot-Rizza will compete in the main doubles
draw. Tournament semifinals will be this Sunday, November 7, and the
finals the next day. Please come out to support both current and
former UVa players as they compete in singles and doubles!

Also this week, the Virginia Men team will also be playing in the ITA
National Indoors Tournament in New Haven, Conn., which is being held
this Thursday through Sunday. The top 32 college players in the
country will compete in singles and doubles; Virginia will have four
players competing in the tournament. Singh will be play both singles
and doubles, Barrick will play doubles with Singh, and Shabaz and
Jenkins will play singles. After the holiday break, they begin their
2010 dual-match season on January 18 against William & Mary. The
matches will be at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Club.

Members of the UVa Women’s team travel in different directions
November 5-8, as some go to New Haven to compete in theITA National
Indoor Championships, and others to Chapel Hill for the UNC
Invitational. The team returns to Charlottesville for the UVa Winter
Invitational January 16-18, and they begin their dual-match season on
January 24, with a doubleheader against Illinois (10 a.m.) and
Richmond (4 p.m.). The January matches will be at the Boyd Tinsley
Courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Club.
