have not been made.

Somdev is not playing unless he gets the last wildcard or enters the
qualifier. Somdev was not in the US Open draw when I checked this
morning, although I think his protected ranking might get him in. His
shoulder must not be ready.

For a lowly 250 level event the singles field is pretty darn good with
Isner (#10), Roddick (#21), Berdych (#7) (took 3rd wild card today),
Tsonga (#6), Dogopolov (#16), Gronollers (#25), Querrey (#29),
Benneteau (#30), Lopez (#31), Troicki #32), Istomin (33), former NCAA
champ at Illinois Kevin Anderson (#34), and Melzer (#36). The rest of
the field has guys mostly in the 40's and 50's. Young and Blake got
wild cards into the main draw.

Roddick lost today in Cinci and appeared to have hurt his back
somewhat, although he finished the match. Hopefully he will not withdraw.

They are probably hoping another top guy decides to play next week.
Fish would be a good addition. If not maybe a 1st round loser in Cinci
like Baker or Harrison. These courts are supposed to be identical to
the US Open courts, so it appears more top guys than I expected are
playing here to get ready for the big one. Also the Olympics shortened
the US hard court season for many players.

Nadal is entered in the US Open, but he has not been able to play any
hard court events due to injury including Toronto and Cinci. If he is
healthy, one would think a little tune up would be a smart move.
Probably will not happen but I can hope.
