top 100, but more likely between 100 to 200 is the best they will reach.
I think JJ has the best chance, because he has a complete game. He improved a lot this year, so if he can improve more and achieve the next level he has a good chance. His speed and all around tennis stroke making makes a player with upside potential AD needs better mobility or an even bigger game sort of like the way Isner plays now. AD seems to like playing from the baseline. I do not think it will work in the pros with his current mobility. His serve was not close to dominant at the NCAA's. MF is currently just as an incredible no miss type of retriever (99th percentile at this style of play), but I do not think he can beat any current pro in the top 150. He needs some offensive weapons and his serve is not going to be one. His style is incredibly challenging from a physical viewpoint. It takes a lot of energy to play 5/6 matches in row the way he plays. If his legs are not fresh he will not be able to win playing this way at the top level. Playing two matches as a collegian a week is easy. I think all will return next year. Some college players do not get a lot better and some do. JJ has gotten better. I think AD has stayed about the same. MF is too early to tell. The tough thing is that the only really good college players play #1, with just a few exceptions. That means AD and MF are not facing much serious competition in dual matches, especially in the weak ACC. Playing really good players is the best way to get better. Has any non #1 college player ever made the top 100 or even 200 on the pro tour? Given that there are no more than 4/5 college players in the top 100, I doubt there are any #2's who have made it. |
