which seem to follow UVA tennis like some mysterious evil plague or
maybe it is just "rule 2B", I really do think we are very, very heavy favorites to win this year. We have 3 top 10 ten guys (maybe even top 5) and maybe 4th top ten guy with Styslinger. Shane, Julien or maybe a 1st year are all very good players and playing at 5 and 6 they should be almost unbeatable. No one has ever had so many good players. In previous years, I always thought some other team usually USC, was just better, but often not by very much. No doubt at Tulsa, last year at UGA and at Stanford we almost won, but UGA/USC pulled out the crucial matches with outstanding clutch play and with some help with cramping twice and an injury. This cramping problem must drive BB up that proverbial wall, he knows we almost surely lost two titles (Tulsa and UGA last year) because of it and lost another (Stanford) due to Drew's broken foot. I expect we have tried everything, except what I have suggested (much, much less warming up to save your legs, especially as the tournament progresses with no off days). It just seems so simple and obvious to me and the failure to do this drives me up that proverbial wall. Hopefully, Illinois in mid may will be cool, but you just never know. With our luck it will be 95 and the entire team will end up defaulting with leg cramps :). Not really of course, but if we cannot get 4 points against all teams this year there needs to be an investigation. Frankly, I just do not see us losing more than 1 or maybe 2 points against anyone in the top 5 this year. Maybe we could lose doubles and one singles, but how does anyone get 4 points against our lineup? I just do not see how it is possible. |
