athletics is considered track and field in British english. I don't
see anything wrong with what he said. 8 gold is truly impressive, it's
a feat that can only be seen in the world of swimming though.
You absolutely can not compare the two, that's all he's saying. Rogge
is an idiot for calling out Bolt IMO, so many athletes celebrate
before recognizing their fellow competitors, look no further than our
own American athletes and you will find the same thing. If the
argument is that he shouldn't celebrate during the competition,
someone let marathon runners/triathlon and an assortment of timed
sports where athletes had the opportunity to celebrate during the
competition.
The british runner in the 4x400 qualifiers showed up his opponents by
waving his hand to urge them on to catch h im and by putting his
finger to his lips has he crossed the line. Now THAT is uncalled for.
