Another thing I would cite is the lack of team tactics on the part of our
distance runners. The Ethiopians and Kenyans use it to their
advantage. We should too.
I personally think we should lobby for a 4x800 in international
competition. The US traditionally has good depth in that event and we
could also have some of our milers step down if need be. When Kenya
set the world record in the 4x8 a couple years ago, we were less than a
second back and that was without 2 of our studs running on the team.
