1) The "profession" of journalism today largely consists of waiting
for someone to issue a press release, and then printing it. UVa cannot issue press releases about recruiting targets until they have signed, so the information must come from elsewhere. You are asking the Daily Progress writers to do some actual work of their own. 2) The rest of journalism today consists of stirring up controversies. The kind of coverage you are asking for (going out and finding interesting but non-controversial information that is not in a press release) is just not on the radar screen of today's "journalists." |
