was my understanding that Coach O'Connor has been more than just a Post-position coach; she also was responsible for the Xs & Os teaching on the team. Certainly the depth of her coaching background is considerably greater than Coach Early's. But, what I don't know is if you can have 4 assistant coaches per NCAA regulations. If that's the case, then it could well make sense to bump up O'Connor's role and have Early take over the Posts. If, on the other hand, Early is replacing O'Connor then I would expect someone else, either Boyle or Coach Kym, would take over the Xs & Os, as it would not appear that Early has had enough experience in that area. |
