Hoos Brush Off Bears, Exam Rust

The first game after exams each December at Virginia almost always seems to be a slightly off-kilter affair for the Cavaliers. Wednesday night's match-up with Morgan State proved no different. Despite a fairly comfortable 18-point win, 75-57, UVa spent much of the night trying to find the pre-break rhythm that led to seven straight victories.

Mitchell, Hoos Dunk Delta Devils

Akil Mitchell led all scorers with 20 points as Virginia defeated Mississippi Valley State 67-39 on Saturday, The Hoos' seventh straight win on the season. The Cavaliers used size and quickness to easily dispatch the Delta Devils before a crowd of just more than 8,000 at John Paul Jones Arena. Justin Anderson and Darion Atkins joined Mitchell in double figures in the win.

Cavs Defeat Vols in Defensive Struggle

The Virginia offense sputtered down the stretch, but a sterling defensive performance helped the men's basketball team take care of Tennessee anyway on Wednesday night. The Cavaliers burst out to a 15-point lead midway through the first half and the lead never dropped to a one-possession score again as the Hoos prevailed 46-38. UVa has won six straight games to improve to 7-2 on the season.

But make no mistake, "Jimmy" Miller is one of the most beloved Cavalier athletes of all time and one of the best to ever wear the Virginia uniform. Hoos Snare Win Over Green Bay

The Virginia men's basketball team made it a Wisconsin sweep this week. Just three days after taking down Wisconsin on Wednesday in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, the Cavaliers returned to Charlottesville and knocked off Wisconsin Green Bay on Saturday, 67-51. UVa has won five straight games to improve to 6-2 on the season.

In coach Bo Ryan's tenure, the Wisconsin men's basketball program had posted an 85-6 record in home games against non-conference teams entering this season's ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Make that 85-7. On Wednesday night, Virginia waltzed into the Kohl Center and picked up a 60-54 win. The Cavaliers have won four straight games this season and four straight times in this event.

Virginia Trounces Seattle

After a helter-skelter barnburner on the West Coast in last season's meeting with Seattle, many Virginia fans worried that a score in the 70's or higher could be bad news for the Hoos on Saturday. It wasn't. It did prove to be very bad news for the visiting Redhawks, however, as the Cavaliers lit up the scoreboard en route to a dominant 83-43 victory. That represents the largest margin of victory in the Tony Bennett era at UVa.

It ends next Wednesday, November 21, but both of UVa's recruits -- Cape Henry Collegiate (Virginia Beach, VA) point guard Devon Hall and Crespi Carmelite (Encinco, CA) point guard London Perrantes -- are expected to make it official and sign with the Hoos as early as today.
