Big Recruiting Weekend on Tap for UVa

Sunday night promises to be a big night for the UVa men’s basketball program. There is the obvious, the first-ever regular season game at John Paul Jones arena. The atmosphere will be electric, setting up nicely for the big night on the recruiting front as well. Coach Dave Leitao and company expect to host three 2007 class recruits making their official visits this weekend, and they expect a number of 2008 prospects in town as well.

Zeglinski Excited to Sign with Hoos

Today, 6-1, 180-pound point guard recruit Sam Zeglinski will sign a letter of intent with the University of Virginia. After being committed to the program for over a year, the Penn Charter (Philadelphia, PA) star is certainly happy to "officially” be a part of the program.
“It is real exciting. I’m finally signing after being committed for a year,” Zeglinski said.

Jones' Terrific Official Visit Experience

November 11th Visitor: 7-0 C Tomasz Kwiatkowski

A native of Poland, Tomasz Kwiatkowski moved to the United States earlier this year to enroll at Lee Academy in Maine. A 7-0 center prospect, Kwiatkowski, who has only played basketball since he was “12 or 13 years old” according to Lee Academy Head Coach Carl Parker, has earned the attention of a handful of Division 1A programs. UVa is heavily in the mix and will get an official visit next weekend.

Mustapha Farrakhan, a 6-3 guard out of Thornton Township (Harvey, IL), has set an official visit with Virginia on the weekend of November 11th. He has made two official visits already – to Penn State and Vanderbilt, respectively – and is heading to Illinois this weekend for another.

Patterson Reschedules UVa Visit

Five-star power forward prospect Patrick Patterson will not make a previously scheduled official visit to UVa this weekend, his father told TheSabre.com this afternoon. The 6-8, 235-pound recruit, rated among the top 15 overall recruits in the country by Rivals.com and Scout.com, has rescheduled the trip.

Hargrave PF Enjoys Visit to UVa

While UVa won’t sign former commitment Eric Wallace - who the staff stopped recruiting last week - it is hoping to land his teammate at Hargrave Military Academy, Mike Scott. Scott, a 6-8, 215-pound power forward recruit, made an official visit to Charlottesville last week. The visit went from Thursday until Saturday and it went well, as the former Deep Creek (Chesapeake, VA) standout enjoyed getting to know the players and coaches throughout the weekend.

Patterson Sticking to his Plan

Davis a Five-Star Prospect for '08 Class

In the recently released Scout.com Top 50 rankings for the 2008 class, Ed Davis was rated a five-star prospect and the No. 4 overall recruit. He is also rated a five-star prospect by Rivals.com, which has him as the No. 8 overall recruit in the 2008 class.
