UVa Adds Talented Guard To 2010 Class
March 2, 2010

Head coach Tony Bennett and staff signed five high school seniors last November, but they weren't finished. Today, the Virginia program scored a verbal commitment from Billy Baron, a 6-1, 185-pound guard who is in a postgraduate year at Worcester Academy in Massachusetts. Baron originally committed last fall to the University of Rhode Island, where his father, Jim, is the head men's basketball coach. Full Article

Harris didn't match his 27.5-point per game average in last Thursday night's win over Adna, but he turned in an outstanding all around game - 17 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, four blocks and two steals - in the 79-41 win. He was forced to sit out last season at Brewbaker Magnet (Montgomery, AL) because of transfer rules, so the only organized basketball action he has seen has come in AAU. The 6-4, 205-pound senior guard impressed on the 2009 AAU circuit, earning a handful of Division 1 offers and drawing rave reviews from high school basketball recruiting analysts, but now he looks forward to showing off his talents for Brewbaker. UVa Men's Basketball Signs Five

Virginia men's head basketball coach Tony Bennett has announced the signing of five players to national letters of intent with the Cavaliers during the early signing period. The players are 6-4 guard K.T. Harrell of Montgomery, Ala.; 6-6 guard Joe Harris from Chelan, Wash.; 6-9 forward James Johnson of Wildomar, Calif.; 6-7 wing Akil Mitchell of Charlotte, N.C.; and 6-8 forward Will Regan of Williamsville, N.Y.
