Indoor Facility On Schedule For Spring

Virginia's new indoor practice facility is on schedule to be completed by late February and approved for use the first week of March, just in time for spring football training. During the early planning stages, the project was initially estimated to begin during the spring of 2012 and be completed by August 2013, but according to UVa Executive Associate Athletics Director Jon Oliver the project is nearly complete.

After taking down North Carolina in its league opener, the first week of conference play turned sour in a hurry for the Cavaliers as they lost to Wake Forest and Clemson to round out the week. Good, Bad, And Ugly Of UVa's ACC Start

The Virginia men's basketball team has played two ACC games thus far: an encouraging 61-52 win against North Carolina at home, and a disappointing 55-52 loss to Wake Forest on the road. Much like the out of conference schedule, the young Cavalier squad played up to its level of competition in one game and then played down to its level of completion in the next. Double Bonus: UNC

Al Groh once told me that the writer the players hated most was the game grade guy. Lucky me! That likely will continue again this week since the news and the grades are not very good - especially for the offense. In what is becoming a habitual "offense" (pun intended), Virginia's defense does what it needs to do to win, special teams remained average while continuing to allow sudden change plays, and the offense simply can't get the job done.

It somehow seems fitting that Virginia's fleeting postseason hopes would end in a game that was a microcosm of the Cavaliers' inconsistent play in 2012. For 45 minutes, the Hoos made a game of it but the issues that have plagued UVa all season continued in game 11. It was the same old song we've been humming all season long. In short, the Cavaliers continue to do the things bad teams, and losing teams do.
