In August, Centreville (Clifton, VA) star defensive end/tight end Ken Ekanem narrowed his list to nine schools - Boston College, Michigan State, North Carolina, N.C. State, Notre Dame, Oregon, Pittsburgh, Virginia and Virginia Tech. He would like to narrow the list further to a final five, possibly as early as the next few weeks. Full Article

One of the top uncommitted recruits in the 2012 class, Gilman (Baltimore, MD) product Cyrus Jones is rated a 4-star prospect by ESPN.com, Rivals.com, and Scout.com. The 5'10", 180-pound athlete had 30 scholarship offers from which to choose, but he has recently whittled that list to seven schools. Full Article

I just felt it was time to commit," the Worcester Academy (Worcester, MA) senior said. Aside from family and coaches, for the most part Severin kept the decision to himself until yesterday at 1 p.m., when he announced in front of classmates where he would spend the next four or five years or his life. 2012 class commitment number 24 is in the fold. This afternoon, Worcester Academy (Worcester, MA) wide receiver Canaan Severin announced that he will attend University of Virginia, choosing the Cavaliers over fellow finalists Boston College and Penn State. Kettle Run's (Nokesville, VA) Michael Parker earned major FBS scholarship offer number six last Friday, following what Cougars head coach Jeff Lloyd called the best game of the 6'4", 210-pound junior's varsity career. East Carolina sent an official scholarship offer to Lake Taylor (Norfolk, VA) safety/wide receiver Mike Tyson last Friday, becoming the third school to officially offer the 6'2", 180-pound prospect. Bucky Hodges admittedly was a bit surprised when he got the nod as Salem's (Virginia Beach, VA) starting quarterback with four games left in his freshman season. "My first game [as a starter] was Homecoming," Hodges recalled. "I was real nervous. The coaches kept saying they were going to play me, but I didn't know they were going to throw me in the Homecoming game. From there I got better each game." Full Article

Liberty (Bealeton, VA) rising junior Wyatt Teller is set to start on both sides of the line this season, at left offensive tackle and defensive tackle. Measuring in at 6'5", 253 pounds and boasting a wing span around 6'7" or 6'8", Teller has caught the attention of major FBS coaches despite not attending any camps this summer. Strategy Session: Line Recruiting Going Well

The offensive and defensive lines have been a focus in Mike London's first two full recruiting classes as Virginia's head coach. Ten players, including six incoming freshmen this season and four 2012 class recruits, are designated to play on the defensive line, which of course now features four starters as compared to Al Groh's three-man front. Getting the numbers right in terms of defensive line depth has been one of the key recruiting objectives in London's first two classes, and the staff certainly appears to be getting the job done in that department.
