This latest "Recruiting Notes" feature includes a check-in with Fork Union postgraduate head coach John Shuman, who will have three UVa-bound prospects on his roster this fall. It also includes a look at Stratford High School in Houston (TX), where the Cavaliers have offered two 2012 class defensive backs. QB Greyson Lambert Headed To UVa

One week ago, Wayne County (Jesup, GA) rising senior quarterback Greyson Lambert made his first ever visit to the University of Virginia. Feeling so good about the experience, he wanted to commit on the spot. Lambert decided to wait, but it was just a matter of time -- one week, in fact -- before he would become the 21st rising high school senior to commit to the Hoos.

Kye Morgan Set For UVa

The Virginia football program continues to roll on the recruiting front, today picking up 2012 class commitment number 20. Franklin (Somerset, N.J.) running back/defensive back Kye Morgan is the latest pledge, choosing UVa over offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Connecticut, Illinois, Rutgers and Temple.

NC RB Chris Mangus Narrows List

Broughton High School (Raleigh, N.C.) began preseason practice recently, and rising senior running back Chris Mangus is anxious to build off of last season's successes. The 5'11", 175-pound prospect totaled approximately 1,600 yards of offense, including over 1,300 yards rushing, in head coach Chris Martin's spread offense. Combining a good work ethic with speed and quickness, Mangus continues to progress on the high school level.

4-Star Eli Harold Heading To UVa

Today, on the day of his late mother's birthday, Eli Harold announced that he would attend the University of Virginia. The 6'4", 220-pound defensive end prospect spent a good amount of the press conference remembering his mother, who may have passed but continues to inspire.
"I want to keep my head up, keep moving forward, and never give up," Harold said. "That's why I chose to do this on this day, August 2nd. She would've been 57 years old."

Virginia Continues Pursuit Of WR Severin

Canaan Severin will take the field for Worcester Academy (Worcester, MA) again on August 22, which is the start of preseason practice. The 6'3", 210-pound rising senior wide receiver hopes to see a few college preseason practices in the meantime, mentioning Boston College, Penn State and Virginia as possible visit destinations in the month of August.

Colby Cooke Awaits First Scholarship Offer

Colby Cooke entered the summer camp circuit looking to get a scholarship offer for his abilities as a place-kicker. This summer, the Goochland (VA) product traveled to many college camps, anxious to show off his kicking talents. By the end of the camp circuit, however, he had impressed most college coaches with his potential as a punter.

London, West Sold Cooper On UVa

Bayside (Virginia Beach, VA) rising senior Anthony Cooper, one of the University of Virginia's most recent commitments, kept it simple at his July 20 press conference.
"I just thanked everybody," Cooper recalled. "I thanked all the schools that had given me a scholarship offer. Then I said where I was going."
The decision itself, Cooper says, wasn't as simple. Many observers pegged the 6'0", 180-pound wide receiver/safety as UVa-bound, but the final decision only became clear hours before the announcement.

Harold Decision One Week Away

One week from today, Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach, VA) rising senior defensive end Eli Harold will reveal his college choice at a 5 p.m. press conference at his high school. The University of Virginia, one of three finalists for the 6'4", 220-pound prospect, hopes to add to a defensive haul that already includes highly regarded prospects such as Kwontie Moore, Michael Moore and Courtnye Wynn.

Reports: C.J. Moore Commits To Virginia

Buford (GA) product C.J. Moore verbally committed to the University of Virginia last night, multiple outlets including the Atlanta Journal-Constitution have reported. Moore, a 5'10", 165-pound cornerback prospect, becomes the 18th member of UVa's 2012 recruiting class.

Jamall Brown Scored The Offer He Wanted

A dislocated wrist did not end Jamall Brown's junior season entirely. The Hampton High School (Hampton, VA) product, who suffered the injury in the second game of the regular season, still managed to play safety for the Crabbers despite the injury. He was, however, sidelined from playing wide receiver, the position he likely would play on the college level. Without a junior season to showcase his talents on the offensive side of the ball, this summer's camp circuit became all the more important in impressing college coaches.

Edmunds Working Towards Decision

Dan River (Ringgold, VA) linebacker/running back Trey Edmunds is one of the top remaining uncommitted rising senior prospects in the state of Virginia. If all goes according to plan, though, he'll move into the "committed" category by the time high school starts back up in September. The 6'2", 200-pound prospect stopped by the University of Virginia for a closer look yesterday, another step in working towards a decision.

Lake Taylor's Tyson Scores A Third Major Offer

A third major FBS program has offered a scholarship to Lake Taylor (Norfolk, VA) safety/wide receiver Mike Tyson. Lake Taylor head coach Hank Sawyer received a call from Virginia Tech recently, and the call was to inform the Titans coach that the Hokies were offering his standout rising senior. Tech joins the University of Virginia and Penn State in having offered the 6'2", 188-pound prospect.

Commitment Profile: DE Courtnye Wynn

Credit Norfolk Christian (Norfolk, VA) assistant coach Vashawn Parker with an assist in getting Courtnye Wynn to play football in the first place.
"Coach Parker, he made me a promise," Wynn said. "If I played football, he promised I would get a scholarship."
Wynn first played high school football as a sophomore in 2009, and it wasn't long before he was hooked. Following a junior season in which Wynn totaled 105 tackles, 32 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, and one defensive touchdown, Coach Parker's prediction came true.

Conte To Decide Between UVa, VT

This week has been a good one for Blessed Sacrament Huguenot (Powhatan, VA) offensive tackle Augie Conte. On Tuesday he received an offer from Virginia Tech, days following an impressive performance at Tech's July 9 one-day camp. Shortly after, he learned that the University of Virginia was offering as well.
In less than a week's time, the 6'6", 270-pound rising senior will have committed to one of those two schools.

Virginia continued its recruiting success at Norfolk Christian over the weekend when Courtnye Wynn gave a verbal commitment to the Hoos, joining teammates Wil Wahee and Kwontie Moore in the Cavalier fold for the 2012 recruiting class. NC assistant coach Shannon Messick confirmed Wynn's decision.

Hampton WR Brown Accepts UVa Offer

Hampton's (VA) Jamall Brown has accepted a scholarship offer from the University of Virginia, setting the stage for the 6'2", 160-pound wide receiver recruit to join forces again with former Crabbers teammate and Virginia freshman quarterback David Watford. Brown's commitment, first reported by David Teel of the Daily Press, gives the Hoos 14 commits total in the 2012 class.

King's Fork Rising Junior Scores First Offer

King's Fork (Suffolk, VA) head coach Joe Jones fielded a young team last season, at one point starting seven sophomores and one freshman on defense. The young team grew over the course of the year, capping off 2010 with three consecutive wins. Led by 2013 class standout defensive back Charles Clark, the Bulldogs have worked hard this offseason and are ready for a successful 2011 season.

Eastport-South Manor (Manorville, N.Y.) rising senior Sean Karl, one of two linemen to commit to the Hoos the last week in June, took some time to discuss his commitment and his future in Mike London's program. Head coach Brian Sacks also provides his comments on the 6'6", 300-pound left offensive tackle's development over the past three years. Karl will be a 4-year contributor on the varsity level, and he has gotten better each year.

In rising senior Seth Dooley, Glenvar (Salem, VA) head coach Kevin Clifford believes he has a true "diamond in the rough." Dooley, a defensive end and tight end, showed well last season, leading the team in sacks and tackles for loss despite having no previous high school football experience. He has the physical package college coaches want, beginning with size.
