Richmond (VA) Sophomore CB Boasts Six Offers

Class of 2014 recruiting is the primary focus of major college coaches right now, but some class of 2015 prospects are getting in on the action as well. St. Christopher's (Richmond, VA) rising junior cornerback Garrett Taylor has seen his stock rise in recent weeks and months, and right now the 6'1", 187-pound prospect has been verbally offered by six major FBS programs.

In-State OL Surpasses 20 Offers

Chancellor (Fredericksburg, VA) offensive tackle Steven Moss recently added scholarship offers from Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida State and Oklahoma, bringing the total number of offers he has received to 21. Without question, the 6'5", 290-pound Moss is the most highly recruited offensive lineman in the state in the class of 2014.

Reavis Talks Visits, Decision Timetable

Back in November, Thomas Dale (Chester, VA) junior CJ Reavis said he was "waiting on one offer. If I get it, that's it."
The 6'1", 195-pound safety prospect has yet to receive that offer, but he is hopeful it will come soon. In this latest interview, though, he admits he would not immediately accept.

Determined McClure On UVa's Radar

6'3", 307-pound offensive lineman Robert McClure grew up a fan of the University of Virginia. In addition to having seen "a bunch of games" as well as the 2012 Spring Game in person, he attended UVa's football camp throughout high school, beginning his freshman year at James Monroe (Fredericksburg, VA). McClure, who is finishing up his first year at Lackawanna City College (Scranton, PA), was in Charlottesville once again this past Sunday, but this time he was attending an invite-only recruiting event as a potential prospect.

Junior Quin Blanding, a 6'2", 195-pound safety prospect out of Bayside High School (Virginia Beach, VA), announced Wednesday afternoon that he will attend the University of Virginia. Blanding, who is rated a 5-star prospect by Rivals.com, Scout.com, and 247Sports.com, chose the Hoos over Clemson, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, N.C. State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and West Virginia.

At a 2:30 p.m. press conference at his school, Bayside (Virginia Beach, VA) junior safety Quin Blanding will announce his college intentions. Va. Beach WR A Coveted Prospect

Jamil Kamara lived up to the billing as a major college wide receiver prospect last season, his first at Bishop Sullivan in Virginia Beach (VA). The 6'2", 195-pound junior hauled in 40 receptions for 750 yards and 10 touchdowns, earning 2012 first-team VISAA Division II all-state honors for his performance. Kamara played for Princess Anne (Va. Beach) his freshman and sophomore seasons, earning just under 10 scholarship offers heading into his junior season.

Three FUMA Players Sign with Virginia

The University of Virginia football program signed 21 players for its 2013 recruiting class on Wednesday including three players from Fork Union Military Academy; defensive tackle Tyrell Chavis of Varina, tight end Max Valles from Hammonton, NJ, and heralded safety Malcolm Cook of Richmond. All three signed at a Wednesday morning ceremony at FUMA.

Alpharetta (GA) senior offensive lineman George Adeosun made an official visit to the University of Virginia the weekend of January 18-20. The 6'6", 290-pound prospect left Charlottesville with a scholarship offer, his first from a major FBS program. Signing Day 2013 arrives next Wednesday, February 6. As 2013 recruiting comes to an end, 2014 recruiting, which has already been underway for some time, comes into full focus for the University of Virginia coaches and major D1 coaches all across the country.
In a series of "Strategy Sessions" over the course of the next month, I will analyze each position and examine which spots will be the biggest needs in the Class of 2014. Up first are two of the most visible spots on the field: Quarterback and tailback.

Marshall Unfazed By Lazor Departure

On Tuesday, it was announced that Bill Lazor, who just completed his third year as UVa offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, had left the program and accepted an assistant coaching position with the Philadelphia Eagles. Virginia quarterback commitment Brendan "Whitey" Marshall, who spoke with the departing Cavaliers assistant on Tuesday, will stand by his commitment to the Hoos despite this new development.
