UVa's Latest Commit An Impressive Athlete

The University of Virginia's July 21 camp came to an end around 1:30 in the afternoon. At that time, safety prospect Malcolm Cook, fresh off an impressive camp performance, didn't plan on giving head coach Mike London a verbal commitment. Three hours later, the Richmond (VA) native changed his mind and is now the 16th member of Virginia's class of 2013.

4-Star Mizzell Sets Decision Date

Tailback Taquan Mizzell revealed his five finalists earlier this week. Now, a decision date is in place for the Bayside (Virginia Beach, VA) 4-star rising senior.
"August 21 is the date," Marlins head coach Darnell Moore told TheSabre.com.

Only 16 years old, Jon Baker measures in at 6'3", 300 pounds, and he has been a mainstay on the Millis-Hopedale Mohawks' (Millis, MA) varsity offensive line the past two seasons. Baker, a rising junior, has only been playing football for three years.

TheSabre.com's Preseason In-State Top 40 for the class of 2013 is here. This group is deep at the top, with 12 players currently ranked in the 4-star category. The top 10 includes a good mix of offensive and defensive prospects, including three quarterbacks, three linebackers, two running backs and two defensive ends. Topping the list is Stone Bridge (Ashburn, VA) defensive end Jonathan Allen, a nationally pursued player who committed to Alabama this spring.

Jack McDonald's first impression of the University of Virginia was a positive one, thanks in large part to primary recruiter Jim Reid.
"Jim Reid, I've known him for a while. He was the first one I met from Virginia," said McDonald, an offensive lineman out of Boston College High (Boston, MA). He is one of 15 rising high school seniors to commit to UVa.
