Moore into the program certainly helps, as the 5'10", 165-pound prospect is the reigning Georgia Class AA 100-meter track champion and boasts 4.3-second speed in the 40. Moore wouldn't be surprised to end up on offense before his time in Charlottesville is up, but he'll enter next summer as a cornerback. Full Article

Grafton Boasts Promising Junior Prospects

Seniors Maurice Canady and Tyrell Chavis led the way for Capital District champion Varina (VA) this season, each earning first-team all-district and first-team all-region honors on both sides of the ball. Hackenberg Picks Up Major Offer

Fork Union Prep (VA) junior quarterback Christian Hackenberg scored offers from UVa and Tennessee before the start of his junior season. Rutgers, the school the 6'4", 200-pound prospect made an unofficial visit to last weekend, came through with an offer at the end of FUMA's season. Hackenberg scored his fourth offer this week, and it comes from one of the nation's top programs. Full Article
Liberty's Teller Reaches 10 Offers

Wyatt Teller grew up dreaming of playing varsity football at Liberty High School (Bealeton, VA). He burst onto Tommy Buzzo's squad as a sophomore, earning first-team all-Region II honors for his play at defensive end. By the start of the 2011 season, five major FBS schools had offered the 6'5", 255-pound prospect, and since that time five more have come through. Full Article
UVa Back In The Running For Georgia RB

North Hall (Gainesville, GA) running back Imani Cross made an unofficial visit to the University of Virginia in the spring, and he came away impressed but decided to stick with the verbal commitment he had given to the University of Tennessee in February. About two weeks ago, Cross de-committed from the Vols, and Virginia is once again in the 6'1", 225-pound senior's recruiting picture. Full Article
UVa The First To Offer Zack Jones

Last weekend was a great one for Oscar Smith (Chesapeake, VA) junior Zack Jones. On Saturday, the 5'11", 200-pound wide receiver/defensive back/returner helped the Tigers to a 47-21 win over Centreville in the Group AAA, Division 6 state championship game (held in Scott Stadium). Shortly thereafter he learned that he had received his first scholarship offer, from the University of Virginia. Full Article
Notes From The VHSL Division 3 State Final

Brookville (Lynchburg, VA) took the field Saturday without star defensive tackle Korren Kirven, who suffered an ankle injury in the first half of the Division 3 state semifinal against Cave Spring. Thanks to a total team effort, the Bees persevered without one of its top players to capture a 34-33 win over high-powered James Monroe in the Division 3 state championship. Full Article
Cavs Showing High Interest In Northside's Ferebee

Northside (Roanoke, VA) featured one major 2012 class recruit on its roster this season in Dakota Jackson. Vikings head coach Burt Torrence, whose team finished the 2011 season with an 11-1 overall record that included an undefeated regular season, believes he has another major college prospect in junior defensive end Demetreus Ferebee. Virginia has not offered but is showing strong interest in the promising prospect. Full Article
UVa, Cal Early Offers For GC's Marshall

Quarterback Brendan Marshall played on Good Counsel's (Olney, MD) freshman football team in 2009. He saw spot duty as a backup on the varsity in 2010 before assuming a starting role in 2011. In his first full season as a starter on the varsity level, the 6'5", 210-pound signal caller helped the Falcons to an undefeated record (12-0) and a WCAC championship. Full Article

2013 Profile: Hampton's Deon Newsome

Hampton High School (VA) is certainly known for producing quality football players, and a good many have gone on to play on the college level. Crabbers junior Deon Newsome is well aware of the tradition. His father, Myron, played for Virginia Tech, and cousin Marques Hagans was a standout at the University of Virginia. Two more cousins, Tyrel Wilson and David Watford, currently play for Tech and UVa, respectively. Newsome, a defensive back/wide receiver recruit, will be able to choose between the Hokies and the Hoos, if of course he decides to attend college in the Commonwealth. Full Article

In just two weeks, senior Greyson Lambert will graduate from Wayne County High School (Jesup, GA). He'll enroll at the University of Virginia in mid-January, fulfilling a goal he had set when he committed to the Hoos in August. Lambert will be the second straight quarterback prospect to enroll early, as David Watford did so out of the 2011 class. Full Article

Patrick Henry (Roanoke, VA) junior David Prince had never attended a game at Virginia or Virginia Tech prior to being offered by both in October. In the time since receiving those offers, the 6'0", 175-pound prospect has visited each school twice. Most recently, he attended Virginia Tech's Thursday night game against UNC and the Virginia/Virginia Tech game in Charlottesville this past Saturday. Full Article

Central Bucks South (Warrington, PA), which features Cavaliers quarterback recruit Matt Johns, wasn't as fortunate. Morgan Ready For Final High School Game

On Thanksgiving Day, Kye Morgan will take the field for the final time for the Franklin (Somerset, N.J.) varsity football squad. Already the school's all-time leader in career rushing yards and rushing touchdowns, the 5'11", 175-pound tailback is looking to lead the Warriors to a win over rival Piscataway before he looks ahead to the next step in his football career.
