Recruiting Video: Dyrell Roberts and Buddy Ruff

Recruiting Analyst

Dyrell Roberts

For EDGE subscribers, we have added video clips to the profiles of two state of Virginia standouts in 6-2, 190-pound Dyrell Roberts and 6-4, 290-pound Buddy Ruff. UVa and Virginia Tech have offered both prospects and a number of other Division 1A programs are interested in both.

Dyrell Roberts stars for Smithfield High School. He does a number of things for head coach Chris Fraser, as he plays running back, wide receiver, defensive back, and is a returner on special teams. He rushed for over 1,000 yards last season as a junior and made 22 receptions. He had 14 touchdowns on the season, including several punt returns for scores. Defensively, he finished with eight interceptions.

We have added one video clip to Roberts' recruiting card. It is only from one game, but it shows his big play ability at several positions. He is being recruited by most schools as a wide receiver, though defensive back is certainly an option as well. Virginia Tech and UVa coaches have indicated that they like him at several spots. Very fast, Roberts has run a sub 11-second time in the 100 meters.

Norview's Buddy Ruff is being recruited by Virginia and Virginia Tech initially as a defensive tackle. He has camped at UVa, so the 'Hoos have had a good opportunity to view his skills.
