When she committed to Virginia in March, Lexie Gerson found her match.

"I’m extremely excited," Gerson said. "I love everything about it. I love the coaches, I love the school. It’s perfect."

Gerson is so excited about her new team in fact that since committing, the fiery sharp-shooting guard has taken it upon herself to encourage other recruits to commit to Virginia.

"I want my team to be the best they can be," Gerson said. "I email them, text them, facebook them. I work my magic."

There isn’t much work to do, Gerson says, Virginia sells itself.

"Everyone loves the coaches," Gerson said. "The gym is amazing. There is nothing not to like about UVA It’s pretty easy."

For Gerson, Virginia’s academic reputation was a big factor. Gerson, who attends The Peddie School, a competitive NJ boarding school, says she intends to study something in the field of business or communications.

Before officially enrolling at Virginia in 2009, Gerson is staying busy in the gym conditioning herself to transition to the college game.

"I hear it’s a totally different game," Gerson said of the transition. "It’s so much faster."

The transition will be made easier for Gerson by the fact that she is finally healthy. Plagued much of her high school career by two back-to-back severe knee injuries, Gerson says both knees are "very good now."
