Please Support The Boys & Girls Club of Charlottesville
For 16 years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Charlottesville/Albemarle has served thousands of youth, providing them with opportunities to make healthy choices and invest in their future. Our mission is simple -- to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us the most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
The Boys & Girls Club has stepped in to support children through every stage of their development by offering five core areas of focus: *character and leadership development, *education and career development, *health education and life skills, *the arts, and *sports, fitness and recreation. Currently, over 1100 members from between the ages 6-18 are registered in the three club locations in Charlottesville/Albemarle and an additional site in Orange. The clubs are at capacity but there is a still a substantial unmet need in this community. The Boys & Girls Club can use your help.
Over 22% of Charlottesville residents live below the poverty line, 74% of Charlottesville Club members participate in the free and reduced meal programs in schools. These families need low-cost, high-quality programs for their children.
The Boys & Girls Club exists to help all children. The results are remarkable:
- Overall improvement of GPA
- Fewer absences from school
- Increase in homework completion
- Overall reduction in drug activity
- Fewer behavioral problems and constant exposure to and relationships with positive role models
You can positively impact the lives of these children by volunteering in one of the five core program areas. To get more information about getting involved, please visit http://www.bgclubcville.org.
