Football Recruiting Rankings

In a player's profile, rankings are given for each recruit for the preseason of their senior year (in the August or September time frame) and the postseason of their senior year (December-January time frame).

IN-STATE RANKINGS

Sabre Top 40:
A listing of the top 40 players in the state of Virginia as ranked by TheSabre.com.

TSL Top 40:
A listing of the top 40 players in the state of Virginia as ranked by TechSideline.com

Roa. Times Top 40:
A listing of the top 40 players in the state of Virginia as ranked by The Roanoke Times. Doug Doughty typically releases Top 40 lists in August and December.

RECRUITING SERVICE RANKINGS

SuperPrep Elite 50:
The top 50 players in the country, regardless of position, as ranked by Allen Wallace of SuperPrep magazine.

SuperPrep AA:
All-Americans, as ranked by Allen Wallace of SuperPrep magazine. There are approximately 275 SuperPrep AA's in the nation.

SP State/Region:
SuperPrep ranks the top players in each state, regardless of position. Some smaller states (for example, WV, Delaware, and Maryland) are combined into regional rankings. The number of players ranked in each state varies. For example, SuperPrep's 2002 preseason issue ranked 92 players in the state of Florida, 34 in the state of Virginia, and 31 in the DC/Delaware/Maryland/West Virginia region.

Rivals 100:
The top 100 players in the country, regardless of position, as ranked by Rivals.com.

Rivals Stars:
The star rating, on a scale of 1-to-5 (5 being the best), as determined by Rivals.com. There are only 35-45 five-star players in the nation.

Rivals Position Rank:
A player's ranking nationwide at his position, as determined by Rivals.com. For example, a player might be ranked as the #3 running back out of 103 running backs. The number of players ranked at each position will vary, but typically is around a hundred.

Insiders 101:
The top 100 players in the country, regardless of position, as ranked by TheInsiders.com.

Insiders Stars:
The star rating, on a scale of 1-to-5 (5 being the best), as determined by TheInsiders.com. There are only 35-45 five-star players in the nation.

Insiders Position Rank:
A player's ranking nationwide at his position, as determined by TheInsiders.com. For example, a player might be ranked as the #3 running back out of 103 running backs. The number of players ranked at each position will vary, but typically is around a hundred.
