The University of Virginia picked up its third in-state commitment for the 2006 recruiting class today, when Deep Run (Glen Allen) star Sean Gottschalk pledged to the 'Hoos. Gottschalk, who is TheSabre.com's #14 overall prospect in the state, chose Virginia over Boston College, Georgia, Miami and Ohio State. Each of the final five schools had officially offered.

At 6-5, 250 pounds, Gottschalk plays defensive end and tight end for head coach Lenny Pritchard's program. He made 56 tackles with seven sacks as a junior last season, earning second-team all-district honors for his performance. For UVa, he projects as a defensive end in the 3-4 defense.

Gottschalk is the 10th player to commit for Virginia's 2006 class.
