Virginia picked up a commitment today from Egg Harbor Township (Egg Harbor, N.J.) wide receiver/safety Cedric Jeffries. Jeffries, who is rated a 3-star prospect by both Scout and Rivals.com, chose the 'Hoos over offers from Wisconsin, Purdue, Illinois, Maryland, Rutgers and Vanderbilt.

The 6-2, 185-pound Jeffries, who runs the 40 in 4.5 seconds and boasts a 30-inch vertical leap, is the 14th player to commit for the 2006 recruiting class and the fourth from the state of New Jersey. As a junior last season, he caught 10 passes for 250 yards and four touchdowns. He missed four games due to injury.
